Do We Need Reservations!!

28 out of 30 students selected in IIT 2006!
Divyanshu Jha got 10 AIR and is representing India in International physics olympiad in Singapore in July 2006!
Most of the students are from weaker section of society!

This is not the success story of a Coaching Institute which charges thousands of bucks, but of a modest down-to-earth coaching institute of Patna city. The institute is Ramanujam school of mathematics, popularly known as 'Super 30'. This institute has came out with flying colours since its inception in 2003. In 2003 18 students of institute made it to IIT. The roller-coaster ride continued with 22 and 26 students being selected in 2004 and 2005 respectively!!
The institute is run by an IPS cadre of Bihar Abhyanand along with his colleagues. The success story of this Institute is due to the fact that it selects students purely on the basis of merit without any discrimination of religion, gender ,caste or community and provides them with free food, boarding and books! Above all it ensures a conducive enviornment of studies! No surprise that Kumar Dipankar, who studied in a Zila school,Chapra and belongs to SC category has secured 486 AIR in general category, all thanks to Super 30.
These all students need a laurel! And they provide us with a food for thought that whether the need of hour is reservations or to ensure the advent of such institutes which provide an equal platform for all castes and religions! And proves that the students of SC and ST category are no way inferior to general category if provided a suitable launching pad!!
